15 photo challenges for your Halloween party. So every costume ends up in the album.

At Halloween parties people take photos all night, mostly the same one: a selfie in front of the decorations. Small photo challenges point cameras at the moments nobody else captures. Here are 15 ideas in five blocks, to print or to add straight to your album as moments.

How to use the challenges with bleibt

  1. 01

Create the album. Choose a title, date and a dark look. It takes a few minutes and you can try it for free.

  2. 02

Add the blocks as moments. Each of the five blocks below becomes a moment, and you can copy its description as is. Every moment gets its own QR code, so uploads land in the right place.

  3. 03

Place the QR codes. The main code goes at the entrance, the moment codes wherever the challenge happens: the photo wall, the bar or the dance floor.

The 15 photo challenges

01
Moment 1

Arrivals

Capture everyone coming in: the first entrance, the first group shot, the first reaction to the decorations.

  1. 1.Your first appearance in costume, still outside the door
  2. 2.The face someone makes seeing the decorations for the first time
  3. 3.Everyone who arrived together, in one picture
02
Moment 2

Costume details

Get close: masks, make-up, handmade pieces. The little things you can’t see from across the room.

  1. 4.The detail that took the longest to make
  2. 5.Make-up close up, with and without flash
  3. 6.A costume from behind – the side nobody photographs
03
Moment 3

Scary together

Group shots with attitude: everyone startled, everyone a monster, everyone shuffling past in a short video.

  1. 7.A group shot where everyone jumps at the same time
  2. 8.A picture of only monsters, witches or ghosts – whichever there are most of
  3. 9.A short video: everyone shuffles through the frame like zombies
04
Moment 4

Decor & light

Pumpkins, candles, fog and shadows. The atmosphere of the party, no faces needed.

  1. 10.The best pumpkin of the night
  2. 11.A shadow picture on the wall
  3. 12.The bar or buffet before it gets raided
05
Moment 5

After midnight

What does the party look like when the masks come off? Last dances, tired costumes, a voice message.

  1. 13.The costume that lasted the longest
  2. 14.The dance floor just after midnight
  3. 15.A voice message: what was your scariest moment tonight?

A costume contest without a voting app

bleibt is your shared album, not a voting app – and that is enough for a costume contest. Create a moment called “Costume contest” and ask everyone to upload one picture of themselves. Shortly before midnight, open the album on the TV or projector, filter by that moment and vote the analogue way: applause, a show of hands or tally marks on a sheet at the bar.

Where your QR codes belong

Print the codes on matte paper. Glossy film reflects party lights and makes the code harder for cameras to read.

FAQ

The short answers.

How many photo challenges make sense for a Halloween party?

For 20 to 40 guests, 10 to 15 challenges are plenty; at a party, hardly anyone reads more. Group them into a few blocks, like this list does.

Do guests need an app to upload photos?

No. The QR code opens the upload straight in the phone’s browser. Guests don’t need an account.

Can each challenge have its own QR code?

Yes, as a moment. You can create up to twelve moments per album, each with its own QR code – which is why the 15 challenges here are grouped into five moments.

Does bleibt have voting for the best costume?

No. bleibt collects the photos and you vote on the spot: show the “Costume contest” moment on a big screen and decide by applause or a show of hands.
